5 Types of Crypto Traders: Which One Are You?
There are many different types of traders. Which one are you?
Introduction
Spend enough time in crypto and you start to realize that almost every trader falls into one of a few categories. Different coins, different strategies, different levels of profitability, but somehow the same characters show up in every trading group.
After years of extensive research, we have identified the five types of crypto traders. Here they are.
1. The TA Wizard

The TA Wizard believes every movement in crypto can be explained by a chart. Bitcoin could dump 20% because the United States declared war on China and he would still be trying to figure out which support line it broke.
His screen looks like a geometry homework assignment. Trend lines, Fibonacci retracements, moving averages, RSI, MACD. If there is a way to draw something over a candlestick chart, he has done it.
He knows Bitcoin's 200-day moving average by heart and has spent enough time studying chart patterns that he can identify a descending triangle faster than he can identify most of his extended family.
His portfolio is down, but that's not because TA doesn't work. He just hasn't studied the chart long enough yet.
The funniest part is that if you ask him about astrology, he'll tell you it's complete bullshit. Predicting someone's future based on the position of Jupiter is obviously ridiculous. Predicting Bitcoin's future because three green candles formed a cup and handle is science.
2. Paper Hands

Paper Hands is somehow in every coin and no coin at the same time.
He spends all day scanning hundreds of tickers across Telegram and Pump.fun, looking for the next big opportunity. You'll see him ape into something, ask him about it 15 minutes later, and get the same response every time:
"I sold that a while ago."
His average hold time is under two minutes. He's not loyal to a coin, ecosystem, or even narrative. One week he's an AI agent trader. The next he's trading privacy coins. By Friday he's somehow deep into a new DeSci meta you've never heard of.
The sad part is that Paper Hands has actually found multiple generational trades. If he simply held some of the coins he bought, he would be retired.
Instead, he sold them for 20%.
3. The Trench Warrior

The Trench Warrior doesn't own Bitcoin. He doesn't own Ethereum. In fact, the idea of buying a cryptocurrency with a market cap above $100 million disgusts him.
Why would he buy Bitcoin for a potential 2x when he could buy a coin launched 14 minutes ago by an anonymous developer named @solana_goat6969?
His Telegram has 30,000 unread notifications. His profile picture is a Milady. He knows the names of 15 different Pump.fun developers but couldn't tell you who the current Secretary of State is.
He's been rugged more times than he can count and has, on occasion, rugged a few coins himself when he needed some extra liquidity.
His lifetime PnL is negative, but that doesn't matter.
He only needs one more big play to retire.
4. The Bitcoin Maxi

While everyone else in the group is destroying their mental health trying to outperform the market, the Bitcoin Maxi has been doing the same thing for the last eight years.
He buys Bitcoin.
Every month, the same amount goes in. He doesn't care whether Bitcoin is at $40,000 or $140,000. He doesn't know what launched on Pump.fun today. He doesn't have 30 Telegram groups open. He probably doesn't even know what the current meta is.
His cortisol is lower than everyone else's, his screen time is half as high, and somehow he's also the wealthiest person in the trading group.
Everyone makes fun of him during bull markets for missing the next 100x.
Then the bear market comes and everyone quietly realizes he was right.
5. Mr. FOMO

Mr. FOMO doesn't find trades. Trades find him, usually after they've already gone up 500%.
He only becomes interested in crypto once everyone else is talking about it. If your barber, Uber driver, and aunt are all discussing the same coin, Mr. FOMO is probably preparing his first buy.
He owns XRP and genuinely believes it's going to $10,000 because a guy on Instagram made a video explaining why the banks are about to use it.
His strategy is remarkably consistent: buy high and sell low.
But crypto isn't his only hustle.
When he's not trading, he's been known to run a dropshipping business, start an AI agent consultancy, trade semiconductor stocks, or pursue whatever other opportunity his Instagram Reels have informed him is currently generating millionaires.
Don't worry, though. He's early.
At least that's what the guy in the video said.
Which One Are You?
