Questions:

1. First, congratulations on the new podcast! What inspired you to start it, and what do you hope to achieve?

We saw a gap in the market for crypto podcasts that focus solely on policy. While many podcasts cover market trends or address policy and regulation as part of broader discussions, very few we know of have made it the central focus and given the interest from the new administration, this is an area everyone in the space is watching right now. With Crypto In America, our goal is to provide a dedicated platform where listeners can hear directly from the key figures in Washington shaping the future of digital assets in the U.S. We also speak with founders who are moving back onshore to benefit from the friendlier regulatory environment.

2. There are a lot of crypto podcasts.  What makes yours different or unique? And tell us about your co-hosts.

Crypto in America is all about providing our listeners with real, in-depth conversations with some of the biggest names in the crypto world—founders, CEOs, lawmakers, regulators, and administration officials. Unlike cable news shows where these individuals get 3 to 5 minutes to answer questions, we give them the time to actually dig deeper into the issues and go beyond the headlines.

As co-hosts, we each bring something different to the table: I bring my background in crypto policy reporting and the extensive relationships I’ve built in the space; Jacquelyn brings sharp insight into the founder side from her years as a journalist and as the host of Talking Tokens; and Gerald brings the legal expertise as Sei’s General Counsel. It makes for a great mix, and a show that’s both informative and actually fun to listen to.

3. You had a successful career at Fox Business. What first sparked your interest in crypto, and what made you take the leap?

I became interested in cryptocurrency when my former boss, financial journalist Charlie Gasparino, was contacted on X by members of the XRP community, urging him to report on the SEC’s lawsuit against Ripple. This was late 2021, nearly a year after the agency filed the case and XRP had been delisted from exchanges. Charlie and I went on to co-write a 10,000-word article for Fox Business titled Regulatory Riddle: An Investigation into the SEC v. Ripple Case and Its Consequences for Crypto. That was what sparked my curiosity about how regulation and policy can profoundly impact the success of emerging technologies. As it became clear that the Gensler SEC was not going to ease up on targeting the industry, that became the story — and the rest, as they say, was history.

4. How does traditional media compare to crypto media? What do you think mainstream outlets still don’t get about the space?

I think the biggest difference is how crypto users get their news—it’s almost all through X, which acts like a real-time newswire. For better or worse, the speed at which news is picked up, shared, and reacted to in crypto totally eclipses traditional media. That’s why you see so many official channels—public companies, high-profile individuals, and even the White House—sharing announcements on X before anywhere else.

And X isn’t just a news source—it’s where the crypto community lives. The level of engagement there is on another level, far beyond what you see in other spaces. The community is huge, active, and always in conversation. Traditional financial media still hasn’t quite caught up with that, and I don’t think it fully understands the tech side of crypto either.

5. How did your partnership with Sei come about, and what role do they play in your work?

Crypto in America was a project Sei had been developing long before I joined. When I decided to leave Fox Business, my co-hosts, Jacquelyn Melinek and Gerald Gallagher (who’s also Sei’s General Counsel) invited me to come onboard to help expand the project’s reach. The timing was perfect and with my background in crypto policy reporting, it was a natural fit. It’s been an exciting journey so far.

6. The new Trump government seems to have jumpstarted the industry.  What are you most excited about or concerned about in crypto?

What excites me most is that there’s so much going on —there’s no shortage of news to cover, and I genuinely love what I do. With Trump back in the White House, crypto has become a constant in the news cycle, and it feels like “firsts” are happening every week. It’s exciting to be on the front lines, writing history as it all unfolds. I’m looking forward to seeing how regulation evolves and how digital assets and blockchain technology are integrated into the broader financial system. “Crypto is here to stay” has been the industry’s mantra for a while—soon it will be time to see what it can actually do.

7. What are some of your biggest crypto holdings or are you a Bitcoin Maxi?

I actually don’t own any cryptocurrency, which tends to surprise people. For me, staying objective in my reporting is important, and it’s a lot easier to do that when I’m not thinking about my own portfolio or how a story I write might have an impact on someone else’s. As my former boss Charlie likes to say, “I just cover it like baseball.”

8. What’s next for your company? Any big moves or surprises we should watch out for?

Stay tuned for some exciting guests in the coming weeks! As crypto legislation moves through Congress, we’ll have top lawmakers behind the bills on the show, along with a few well-known founders. Plus, my co-hosts and I will be heading to London next month for a live recording on stage with Emin Gun Sirer, CEO of Ava Labs.
