Introduction

SUI, a Layer 1 blockchain developed by Mysten Labs, is designed to provide high scalability and low transaction costs, making it an attractive option for developers and users alike. If you're looking to transfer assets such as Ethereum (ETH) or stablecoins to SUI, here’s an easy step-by-step guide that you can follow.

How to Bridge to SUI: Step-by-Step Guide

1. Set Up Your Wallets

Before starting, you’ll need both an Ethereum wallet (e.g., MetaMask) and a Sui-compatible wallet. Make sure both wallets are funded with the asset you wish to bridge, such as ETH or WETH on Ethereum. If you don't have a SUI wallet yet, check out our guide on how to create one here.

2. Go to the Sui Bridge Interface

Navigate to the Sui Bridge website, which is designed for smooth asset transfers from Ethereum to Sui.

3. Connect Your Wallets

Once on the bridge interface, connect your Ethereum wallet first, and then link your Sui wallet. You may also manually input your destination address if needed.

4. Select Asset and Amount

Choose the token you want to bridge (currently, the Sui Bridge supports ETH and WETH) and enter the amount. Click on "Bridge assets" to start the transaction. If this is your first time, your wallet may ask for token allowance approval.

5. Confirm the Transaction

Confirm the transaction in your Ethereum wallet. Depending on network congestion, this may take up to 10 minutes due to Ethereum’s finalization times.

6. Monitor the Progress

Once approved, you’ll be redirected to a status page where you can track your transaction. When bridging from Ethereum to Sui, most tokens will be sent directly to your Sui address without extra steps. However, for transfers back from Sui to Ethereum, you may need to claim the tokens manually on the Sui Bridge interface.

Important Considerations

  • Fees: Transferring from Ethereum often incurs higher gas fees, while transfers to Sui are typically lower-cost.
  • Security: The Sui Bridge leverages the Sui blockchain’s validators for transaction security, eliminating third-party reliance for added trustworthiness.

This guide should help you get started bridging to Sui, whether for testing or participating in Sui's DeFi ecosystem! For more details on bridge security and troubleshooting, check out resources from the Sui Blog.
